The key purpose of the Principal Solution Architect (PSA) is delivering executive level advisory & architecture design services where you will run discovery engagement to understand strategic client needs and technical requirements, define enterprise data strategies and shape solution approaches to deliver these strategies at scale. This will be achieved through applying your deep subject matter expertise in the Data and Insights across Warehouse, BI and Advanced Analytics domains, especially with streaming and lakehouse architectures common to Databricks and Snowflake solutions.

This role also works closely with client deal teams to qualify client opportunities, communicate the benefits of partnering with Versent to deliver Enterprise Data solutions and support pre-sales to delivery handover as required.  You will be a credible Cloud Data subject matter expert partner in the sales process and will drive Versent’s growth strategy through effective client engagement, advisory and successful solutions. 

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Acting as credible technical partner in the sales process and build customer confidence in the technical ability of Versent
  • Working with the client team to deliver on key account strategies and to articulate client solutions into commercial documents (Statements of Work, Request for Proposal, Bids and Tenders)
  • Provide strong opinions and guide clients through tool selection based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Provide solution architectures at a wide range of levels to support business cases through to project delivery working with engineers and related IT teams.
  • Defining features, phases and solution requirements
  • Providing specifications according to which the solution is defined, managed, and delivered
  • Contributing to the outcomes in Proof of Value/Concept, Data Strategies, Business Case development, customer demos or leading-edge engagements, ensuring customer satisfaction in collaboration with Directors.
  • Assisting the Director (Practices) to develop domain collateral for use in responding to proposals/bids and to streamline project delivery and quality through proven/reusable domain delivery practices and methods
  • Assist project managers as a second leader on many projects ensuring we bring the best of Versent to our clients. Playing a core delivery role especially early on when the architecture and tool selection is being defined

The experience we require:

  • Architect-minded, keen to get on the white board and design solutions including technologies, but not limited to, such as AWS, Databricks and Snowflake
  • Low-level of technical and analytical knowledge in the relevant Data technologies such as cloud, lakehouses, data mesh, real-time analytics, advanced analytics and data governance
  • Experience in a customer-facing, sales-aligned role such as Consultant, Enterprise Data Architect, Data Strategy Advisory
  • Exposure to large enterprise EDP programs of work spanning multiple years
  • Works effectively with senior Data and business stakeholders – CDO, CTO, CIO, CMO, CFO etc
  • Track record of running PoCs or pilots to explore new technology against potential business use cases
  • String strategic thinker with broad experience delivering data strategies, proof of concept and associated client proposals
  • Gains clear agreement and commitment from others by persuading, convincing and negotiating
  • Analyses information for greater understanding of a problem to provide workable solutions and make rational judgments to a problem
  • Work strategically to realise organisational goals and considers a wide range of issues across platforms, services and IT operating models
  • Ability to influence the discussion with clients and demonstrate how business outcomes can be achieved with recommended solutions
