I purchased a laptop from XMA through my work, which came with a 4-year warranty. Three years later the laptop is not working and I contacted them to find out the details of the warranty, to see if I can have it repaired or replaced. they have taken weeks to reply to each of my emails, they took two months to confirm the device had been purchased through them, even though I provided the serial number and invoice.
They have refused to provide details of the warranty, instead transferring me repeatedly to different departments. Genuinely terrible customer service and the warranty seems totally worthless.The XMA team’s communication was excellent. They consulted about what we wanted, looked at our printing needs and put forward what they thought was the best solution.“Our printing processes have significantly changed the approach to thinking about how we print and what we print. Thanks to SafeCom – the print management software - we can access reports on which documents are being printed and make decisions based on that.
The entire project ran very smoothly. Members of the XMA team were happy to answer questions about anything we wanted to know about. We were really impressed. They knew their stuff and because of that we would absolutely use XMA again in the future.
We intrinsically trusted XMA to provide us with the reliable, efficient and securely replicated storage solution we required in order to support our Europe-wide systems for multimedia operations and projects. We are now able to simply and efficiently add ‘branch’ storage arrays at European-wide locations to the existing replication and disaster recovery solution.
The real benefit of XMA is the value-add they can bring. They deliver the server equipment for us, unpack it, make sure the hardware configuration is correct and put it in the racks for us.
Our data centre is over the other side of the city so this is a real benefit for us. We have desktop support staff based alongside the data centre who can greet XMA’s technical staff. It means server support technicians don’t have to on-site at that point. It saves them effort and lost productivity. If there are any issues during the installation process there are XMA engineers on site and they can diagnose and rectify the problem straight away.
XMA also mange lease returns. When a lease runs out they will remove the old batch of hardware that we have refreshed and arrange everything with HP with regard to the return of hardware and lease finance. We don’t have to do any of that which takes the pressure away from us completely.
I feel strongly that the approach from XMA is that they are there to help the council - and that is what they do. XMA have provided significant value to us.As we increased the number of college services, we had to continually buy more servers and storage to keep pace with the data this produced. IT management costs were soaring, and we were worried about network integrity as we didn’t have consistent disaster recovery and backup processes.
At the time, all our data storage was direct attached. Each server had its own storage that couldn’t be accessed by other servers. This just wasn’t efficient. Our key requirements were quality of hardware and an ability to scale to meet future needs, disaster recovery was also critical.
With XMA’s new setup, if we lost our primary data centre, we could have all the data back within hours.XMA provides the hardware and the systems support for everything they provide. That is also going well. We have had a couple of issues but they have been fantastic in sorting it out. The company has a large knowledge nase and the engineers working with us have just got on to it with no fuss. They have answered any questions and everything has gone very smoothly.
We have chosen to move to Google Apps and Chromebooks as they provide a system that is easy to manage any number of devices, from our first Chromebook and as the project scales. With web-based applications and storage, staff and pupils can work from anywhere using a shared platform, eliminating servers and the issues they bring. XMA have been friendly, supportive and available whenever we have needed them, making the transition smooth and stress free.
The Circular Economy approach delivered by XMA proves that what’s good for the environment can also have positive business value. We have the potential to reinvest the funds from the sale of our used & recycled equipment to buy new, more powerful technology that boosts our productivity and enables us to better serve our staff and residents.
XMA’s enthusiasm and commitment enabled us to create a great, bespoke programme to captivate the learners in a largely project-based format, so the learners could use their creative talents, experience and understanding of ICT use in school and college life.
This was one of the best-organised and most thoroughly well managed projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of being involved in. The planning was spot on, the on-site team had a hands-on attitude to resolving any problems immediately and we were left with a fully functioning print solution, delivered as planned.
Our printers have a high usage and we have found that if we have them serviced every two weeks that increases a device’s up-time significantly. We verified the annual costs on each machine to work out our total cost of ownership. There were other options in the marketplace but XMA’s solution offered a very good saving. Thanks to our deal with XMA, we also have a fixed cost per page for the duration of our contract.
