OSIbeyond put together a technology assessment back when we first started. It gave us a good benchmark for where we can and should be 2-3 years from now. Our senior staff loves this because they can take it to our board of directors and explain why we’re making the decisions we’re making with our technology.
We like that OSIbeyond is flexible and willing to work around our needs. The Assistance Executive Director, Tina Myers, asked for a standing monthly call with OSIbeyond’s Chief Technology Officer to keep our technology initiatives on track. This has been instrumental in helping us make the right decisions.
In my specific role in overseeing the technology teams and the new data services team we have, I definitely spend more time thinking about how we leverage the technologies and then how we leverage our data. I don’t spend time thinking about the day to day problems that we have to worry about. Right now we’re working with OSI to help us take a look at our network security vulnerabilities. We’re very focused on that for the long-term. OSI is on the frontline telling us what we need to be doing in the long-term and that’s a big help for me.
It’s been very helpful because OSI is addressing issues and is really involved in the technology pieces and having someone who is invested in the relationship and really wants to see us be successful, I think it’s going to allow us to rely on OSI for the long-term vs. focusing on short fixes to a problem that may crop up later.
I think it’s a great model and probably fits for a lot of organizations. I would recommend it and I think there is a trend to outsource technology support, especially for organizations our size, in order to better serve our staff and members by focusing on things that are unique to the business.
I was looking for a solution that would fit our needs, provide the infrastructure and getting it all done cost effectively. A partner that would work with us and take a team approach. Since I was a new position and onsite, I could be the first level of support but I also knew I needed back up because we have a staff of 70 people. I was looking for a partner to help support me because I really felt that the staff at NCRC needed quality.
What I like about OSIbeyond’s website is that you can go and configure everything that you need and get the pricing right there. It was very transparent… other providers pricing is more gated. OSIbeyond had, what I thought a key setup for our needs. I knew I could get that solution anywhere else but they have it off the shelf which gave me a better feeling because I knew they can customize things to our needs.
I’m happy with our relationship. My organization keeps throwing me a lot of curve balls. You guys are always there to help me figure things out. OSIbeyond seems to have the same staff throughout the whole process and I’ve been here for a year and a half now. They get to know us and what our needs are.
Our previous provider had a very set way of doing things. There wasn’t a lot of flexibility provided…They took a one size fits approach. When you’re a small organization and you need to be agile and have staff in contact where ever they are – some of those security first, one size fits all solutions don’t really work for the organization. Interwoven with that part as well was looking for better customer support and responsiveness to our needs.
The value we get from OSI, the entire package, is just extraordinary. It is a lot of bang for your buck. It may not be the cheapest solution out there, but there is the adage of you get what you pay for. I think that the customer service, the knowledge, the ability to inter-relate with the client and to think strategically and proactively for us on these issues are valuable.
I think OSI’s CTO helped with that himself. He was very engaged from the beginning. It was great to see someone at his level diving in and helping out with the day to day because he wanted to make sure he knew enough about the environment and wanted to make sure it went smooth. I can’t think of a single issue we had.
If I had to pick one factor, it would have to be the service. They have fantastic service on all levels of the organization. I would recommend OSI because it’s a really well run operation and they follow-up on problems, they’re forward thinking, and they do a really great job at general customer service and are accessible and personal. I feel like I can pick up the phone at any time and speak to their CTO or CEO, or anyone else I’ve worked with at OSI.
We have a reliable, knowledgeable and affordable partner in OSI. OSI took the time to analyze our old infrastructure, understand our needs and transform our infrastructure to meet current industry standards. In less than 6 months our network jumped from the dinosaur age to the 21st century.
